We are enjoying a full four-day academic week as we reflect on last week's Veteran's Day program as well as begin to prepare for Thanksgiving week.
The students were very attentive as they learned of the men and women who have served and died for our country last week. I think the parents and grandparents that attended will agree that it is one of the most memorable days at our school. Thank you to Mr. Clark, Iris' grandfather, Mr. Colcord, Joshua's grandfather and Mrs. Brubaker, Kyra's grandmother, for reading books about service men and their families.
Next week, we will study Thanksgiving with a traditional feast on Thursday morning. We will attend the feast as "Native Americans" and will make our costumes in school this week and next. The food will be provided by the teachers. In other words, no preparation for you at home.
The Ox Cart Man, our book of the week, is another wonderful Newberry winner written by Donald Hall and illustrated by Barbara Cooney. We do have four copies in our classroom of this book, so expect it to come home in the next two days.

Thursday of this week, our school will take part in a Veteran's Day celebration. Every year, this day is one of the memorable of the school year. On Thursday morning, the auditorium will be filled with our students, parents, teachers, and administrators and over one hundred Veterans! Please attend on Thursday morning if you possibly can. 9:30 in the Auditorium. Contact me with any questions. If you have not returned your yellow form letting me know if your child will be sitting with you or with me, leaving right after the program or staying until noon with me...please do so tomorrow. I have received from Iris, Hudson, Jacob, Kyra and Hughes. THIS DAY IS CHAPEL DRESS! I WILL SEND SEVERAL REMINDERS! Also, if any of you parents have served in the military, please let me know. I am aware that Jeff Mansfield and Scott Colcord have/are serving.
Thank you Laura Mansfield for being a part of our fun "Egg" Special Event last week. You were kind to change your schedule and come in last minute. I did not take any pictures that day! Laura if you took any with your phone, do you mind sending to me?
