X Week and the Habit of Attention

Week of November 14-17

Picture retakes on November 16th!  Yes, students may dress for retakes on that day.

Habit of the Month - Attention
Mom of the Month - Laura Mansfield

We are enjoying a full four-day academic week as we reflect on last week's Veteran's Day program as well as begin to prepare for Thanksgiving week.

The students were very attentive as they learned  of the men and women who have served and died for our country last week.  I think the parents and grandparents that attended will agree that it is one of the most memorable days at our school.  Thank you to Mr.  Clark, Iris' grandfather, Mr. Colcord, Joshua's grandfather and Mrs. Brubaker, Kyra's grandmother, for reading books about service men and their families.

Next week, we will study Thanksgiving with a traditional feast on Thursday morning.  We will attend the feast as "Native Americans" and will make our costumes in school this week and next.  The food will be provided by the teachers.  In other words, no preparation for you at home.

The Ox Cart Man, our book of the week, is another wonderful Newberry winner written by Donald Hall and illustrated by Barbara Cooney.  We do have four copies in our classroom of this book, so expect it to come home in the next two days.
