Week of October 10-13
Sound of the Week and Book of the Week - (in title)
Mom of the Month - Meredith Burns
A huge thanks to April Rodell, Lauri Bradley and Danielle Boos for a great Service Project Day. The children were in great hands and I know the fireman felt very loved and appreciated.
Thank you to Alan Thomson for the great photo above from our Apple Orchard trip. Look for an email tonight that includes the shutterfly link to get to Alan's photos.
We enjoyed Cynthia Rylants book When I Was Young in the Mountains last week. It was so special to have Barbara Mansfield, Sarah Kate's grandmother, come and read this book and then tell us about how things have changed since she was young. The kids were very interested to hear that there were no TVs and cell phones years ago. (see photo)
The week before, Jon Colcord, Joshua's grandfather, came and read How to Make An Apple Pie and See the World. Joshua grinned the entire time that his grandfather was here. The students love to have guest readers, especially grandparents. Look forward to meeting Vin's grandmother from California who will be guest reader this Thursday.
Thanks so much to Rachel Brubaker for being our awesome September Mom of the Month. It was a very busy month and Rachel served so graciously. Thank you...especially for your time in planning our Apple Orchard trip. (see photo of our Nature Walk with Rachel)
This Week will include sponge painting, scribble art, Marching to Sousan, slithering, stomping, swaying, skipping, swinging and many other great S activities.
This weeks book, Mike Mulligan and His Steam Shovel, is another outstanding Caldecott award winner. Be sure to check out ALL of Virginia Lee Burton's books.
Will send a sign up email very soon for our Conferences scheduled the last week of October.
