Planning for our First Week in Kindergarten

Week of August 15th-19th
Book of the Week - I Like to Be Little by Charlotte Zolotow
Sound of the Week - N/A this week
Habit of Month - (will practice PEARL rules in August and begin habits in September)
Mom of the Month - Brandy Parsonnet (all Room Moms are M.O.M. for August)

It was a pleasure to see most of you yesterday morning a the Meet and Greet!  The children seemed very comfortable and jumped right into classroom activities.

Please take note of these important details for Monday and Tuesday:

Please walk your child to our classroom on Monday morning.  Plan on arriving around 8:15.  We will take time for a class picture and then jump right into classroom acitvities. Kindergarten will not participate in noon carpool on Monday.  Please plan on picking up your child in our classroom at 11:50 on Monday. This will enable you to get out to carpool for noon pick up if you have older children.  Monday is the only day we will release the children from our classroom.  Beginning Tuesday, all kindergarteners will be dismissed from the carpool area.  We will discuss carpool in greater detail at our meeting on Tuesday evening.  Should you have questions regarding carpool before Tuesday night’s meeting, don’t hesitate to contact me.

Please send your child with a healthy snack (fruit, crackers, yogurt, veggies, etc.) on Monday (and every other day!)  Please send a water bottle as well.  Please, no juice as it attracts bumble bees while we are enjoying our snacks outside.

If you were not able to bring school supplies on Friday, your child should bring Monday morning in backpack.  Part of our morning plan is to unpack supplies and put in plastic boxes (that I am providing) for use during the school year.

Beginning Tuesday morning, all kindergartners will begin our normal morning routine.  Please drop your child off at the Main Auditorium entrance.  Adults and safety patrol students will be there to assist your little ones in getting safely into the building.  Once inside, the kindergarten teachers and parapros will be there to greet your child and show them where to wait.  Your child may be dropped off beginning at 8:00.  Prior to 8:00, no adults will be there to monitor your child.  We will discuss this procedure in greater detail on Tuesday evening.

Finally, our first parent meeting is Tuesday evening in our classroom.  We will begin at 7:00.  Our time is limited, so your punctuality is appreciated!

I will be praying for your sweet little ones this weekend!  I covet your prayers for me as well; pray that God will use me as His instrument in the life of your child and your family.

Have a blessed Saturday and Sunday!
Kay
